Profile
The most rewarding aspect of being a Trudeau Scholar was the opportunity to connect with other scholars outside my own field of study. Trudeau Scholars are feisty, informed, and opinionated. They challenged some very basic assumptions about my own research, which has made my doctoral thesis stronger. As someone who spends her days thinking in scientific terms of measuring bones and extracting DNA, it was particularly interesting to sit down with scholars addressing corpses as evidence, as testimony, or even as "discourse." The friendships I made and time I spent at Trudeau events with the other scholars has enriched my graduate experience exponentially. In addition, the opportunity the Trudeau travel money provides has allowed me to attend conferences and network around the world. The Foundation's support, both personally and academically, has enabled me to have a wonderful doctoral experience.
