Huguette Labelle
Profile
Huguette Labelle holds a doctorate of philosophy in education. She is a companion of the Order of Canada and has been named to the Order of Ontario. She has been awarded honorary degrees from twelve Canadian universities and the University of Notre Dame in the United States. She has received the Vanier Medal of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada, the Outstanding Achievement Award of the Public Service of Canada, the McGill Management Achievement Award, and l'Ordre de la Pléiade.
Ms. Labelle served for nineteen years as deputy head of different Canadian government departments. Among other positions, she was secretary of state and head of Transport Canada, the Public Service Commission, and the Canadian International Development Agency. She has served on more than twenty councils and boards of directors.
Ms. Labelle is a former chancellor of the University of Ottawa has chaired the Board of Directors of Transparency International, She is currently a member of the board of the UN Global Compact, the vice-chair of the Rideau Hall Foundation Board, the vice-chair of the International Senior Advisory Board of the International Anti-Corruption Academy, a member of the Advisory Group to the Asian Development Bank on Climate Change and Sustainable Development, a member of the Executive Board of the Africa Capacity Building Foundation, a member of the Board of the Global Centre for Pluralism, a member of Global Financial Integrity, a member of the Trustlaw Advisory Board, a Board member of the Aga Khan Museum and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Order of Ontario. She also serves on additional national and international boards, and advises various organizations.
