Jacques Bougie

Born in Montréal in 1947, Jacques Bougie, O.C., LL.D., holds law and business degrees from the Université de Montréal and HEC-Montréal. Mr Bougie was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1994 and received honorary doctorates from the Université de Montréal (2001) and McGill University (2010).
Mr. Bougie is currently a director of McCain Foods Limited and The CSL Group Ltd as well as a member of a number of advisory committees and foundations. He also acts as coach/advisor to a few social and business entrepreneurs.
Mr. Bougie was president and chief executive officer of Alcan Inc. from 1993 to 2001 and president and chief operating officer from 1989 to 1993. Before joining Alcan in 1979, Mr. Bougie held various responsibilities in the information technologies and education sectors.
Over the years, Mr. Bougie has served as a director on the boards of various companies and organisations including Alcan Inc. (1989-2001), Royal Bank of Canada (1991-1999), Bell Canada (1992-1999), BCE Mobile Communications Inc. (1988-1995), Novelis Inc (2003-2005), Rona Inc. (2003-2005), Nova Chemicals Inc. (2001-2009), Abitibi Consolidated Inc (2005-2007) and Abitibi-Bowater Inc (2007-2010). He was also Vice-Chair of the BCNI (1998-2001) and President of the Canada-Japan Business Committee (1994-1999), member of the Canadian Group, Trilateral Commission (1995-2000) and the Economic Council of Canada (1987-1991).
