Johanne Brunet
Profile
A professor at HEC Montréal since 2005, Johanne Brunet teaches the MBA, EMBA and at the Executive Education School. A member of the Order of Chartered Professional Accountants of Quebec (CGA-CPA), Johanne Brunet holds a Doctorate (PhD) in Industrial and Business Studies from the University of Warwick (United Kingdom) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from HEC Montreal. Dr. Brunet also holds a university certification in corporate governance (ASC) from the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés (College of Business Administrators) of Laval University, where she earned the designation of a certified corporate director. Her research interests and publications focus on creativity and innovation, international marketing, new product development and cultural industries.
Through her research expertise on managing creativity and innovation in complex environments, she examines business issues through a lens that greatly contributions to the development of organizations. She works very closely with all students through her research and teaching to support their professional development. In 1999, she was recognized as the Business Leader of the Year Award of the Chamber of Commerce of Montreal. In 2013, for the 40thAnniversary of the MBA Association of Quebec (AMBAQ), her portrait was included among 40 portraits of MBA graduates and she was the finalist for the2013Business Professor of the Year Award of the well-known magazine The Economist. In 2013, she was also the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award of HEC Montréal. For the 15th Anniversary of the Collège des administrateurs de sociétés, she was part of the 15-15 Group of professors that were highlighted and she presented an original piece on chairing Boards of Directors. She has also sat with the Théâtre du Rideau Vert, among others, and others in the United Kingdom. Dr. Brunet has extensive international experience. She has worked in Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. Among others, she developed the “International Campuses” for her MBA students, which has created opportunities to meet with business representatives in California, Australia, India and the United Arab Emirates.
She has also been very active as a manager in the media industry with Société Radio-Canada and TV5 International.
