Sandy Martin

Sandy Martin has 18 years of experience in Canadian and international oil and gas exploration, development, and operations. His current position is that of vice president (East Coast) for Suncor Energy. Mr. Martin began his career as an engineer supporting operations in western Canada. Over the next 15 years, he held various positions in project management, marketing, operations, and development, focused on Canadian oil sands and offshore oil and gas assets.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Martin was based in Aberdeen, Scotland, where he managed several non-operated joint ventures for ExxonMobil.  In previous assignments, Mr. Martin held leadership roles in western Canada, including that of operations manager for Canada's largest in situ oil sands operation, regulatory affairs manager for the Mackenzie Gas Project, gas processing manager, strategic planning advisor, and projects manager.

In addition to Mr. Martin's primary role at Suncor, he is a member of the board of governors of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council, the chairman of the Board of Directors of Petroleum Research Newfoundland & Labrador, and a member of the Atlantic Canada Executive Policy Group of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers.

Mr. Martin was born in 1973 in Toronto, Ontario. He holds a B.Sc. in mechanical engineering from Queen's University (1995) and a master's of business administration from the University of Calgary (2004).
