Acknowledging National Indigenous Peoples Day
On National Indigenous Peoples Day, we recognize the history, heritage, resilience and valuable contributions of First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples across Canada.
We would also like to respectfully acknowledge that the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation's offices are located on the traditional territory of the Kanien'kehá:ka (Mohawk) Nation, a place that has long served as a meeting place for diverse nations.
The Foundation is aware of its historical responsibility to continue learning and to be better informed. It is in this context that we are going to create an exchange circle with the Indigenous members of the community. We envision this circle opening up our understanding and learning, and accompanying our reconciliation efforts.
As we engage in this process, we share with you memories of the experiences of members of our community at the ancestral Indigenous site of Mushuau-nipi.
