Celebrating Women's Rights Through the Foundation's Core Themes
On International Women's Day, we come together to celebrate the many achievements, struggles and triumphs of women around the world. It's a day to recognize their resilience, determination and invaluable contribution to all aspects of society, in alignment with the core values of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation.
Through the lenses of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation's four major themes - Human Rights and Dignity, Responsible Citizenship, Canada and the World, and People and their natural environment - we honour the women who have shaped and continue to shape these areas.
In the field of Human Rights and Dignity, we shine the spotlight on women who have fought against injustice and discrimination, passionately defending fundamental rights for all. Their courage and determination are a beacon of hope in the quest for a more equitable and respectful society.
In the context of Responsible Citizenship, we recognize women who have committed themselves to promoting democratic participation and civic engagement, raising their voices to represent the interests of their communities and working for a better future for all.
In the context of Canada and the World, we celebrate women who have built bridges across borders, fostering intercultural understanding, international cooperation and the promotion of world peace, while highlighting global gender issues.
Finally, from the perspective of People and their natural environment, we honour the women who fight for environmental sustainability, the protection of natural resources and the well-being of communities, recognizing the crucial importance of their leadership in preserving our planet for future generations.
Together, through the Foundation's programs and these core themes, we are committed to empowering the women who have paved the way to equality, inspiring a future where all can flourish in diversity and dignity.
