The Foundation Participates at the 2024 Stanfield Conversations

In 2024, more people than ever are participating in national elections, amid growing concerns about democracy and a contentious presidential race in the United States.

The 4th edition of the Stanfield Conversations was held at Dalhousie University and live on YouTube, an annual event bringing together nearly 2,000 people on November 20. This year, the aim was to discuss the results of the U.S. elections, examine democratic challenges and explore inspiring solutions, drawing on the legacy of Robert L. Stanfield. The event then concluded with a keynote address by the Right Honourable Joe Clark, co-chair of Stanfield Conversations and former Prime Minister of Canada.

For the first time, the Foundation participated thanks to the commitment and partnership of David Black and Rachael Johnstone.

Thank you to the organizers for setting up a master class with speakers Doug Saunders and Deb Thompson, in which our Fellows were able to participate, and which was held in the company of graduate students from Dalhousie University and other universities in the region.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a resounding success.

Next year, we're looking forward to adding simultaneous interpretation and organizing a colloquium dedicated to post-graduate students to further enrich the dialogue and exchange of ideas.
