Recognizing and Redefining Responsibilities

The Foundation has long supported Indigenous Scholars, Fellows, and Mentors. On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we recognize the need to deepen our understanding of Indigenous knowledge systems.

It is to this end that from August 19 to 21, on Treaty 6 Territory in Saskatoon, SK, the Foundation was honored to be welcomed by 2024 Mentor Michael Linklater, a descendant of the Thunderchild Nation. Five Indigenous members of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation shared their insights on Indigenous knowledge, learning, leading, protocol, and respectful immersion in Indigenous cultures.

Thank you to Dr. Lorna Wanosts’a7 Williams (2021 Fellow), Gerald McMaster (2023 Mentor), Michael Linklater (2024 Mentor), Laura Thibeault (2023 Scholar), and Geraldine Manossa (2024 Scholar) for their invaluable contributions to this first Indigenous Circle.
